04/10/2009 - Boston, MA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Paul Pierce scored 28 points and pulled down eight rebounds to guide the Boston Celtics to a 105-98 win over the Miami Heat.
Glen Davis tallied 22 points, Ray Allen 21, while Rajon Rondo chipped in seven points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists as the Celtics won their sixth straight and for the 10th time in 11 games.
Despite the win, the Celtics were pushed out of any chance at attaining the top seed in the Eastern Conference. Cleveland claimed that Friday night by winning at Philadelphia. Boston moved two games ahead of Orlando for second in the East. The Magic lost at home to the Knicks Friday night.
Dwyane Wade scored 31 and had nine assists for the Heat, who remained a game ahead of Philadelphia for fifth in the Eastern Conference. Miami, which has lost two in a row and four of six, can finish no better than fifth.
Michael Beasley scored 23 and had 13 rebounds for Miami, which also received 16 points and nine boards from Jermaine O'Neal.
O'Neal's jumper tied the game at 95 for the Heat with under three minutes left, but Pierce gave Boston the lead for good by sinking two foul shots with 1:37 left.
Wade then missed a three-pointer, and Davis powered his way in the lane for two points with 57 seconds to go.
Kendrick Perkins blocked an O'Neal layup try at the other end, and Wade then missed a layup. Pierce made two foul shots, while Allen sank four more from the charity stripe to seal the victory.
Miami held a 25-22 edge after 12 minutes, but Boston rallied and was ahead 54-47 at the half. The Celtics opened a double-digit lead in the third, as Pierce sank a three-pointer for a 70-60 difference. It was 79-72 Boston moving to the fourth.

The 2009 AP NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year odds have been released and Denver Broncos' running back Knowshon Moreno has been made the opening favorite.
Moreno was selected in the first round of April's NFL draft and is expected to carry the rushing load for the Broncos this season. And with Jay Cutler now in Chicago, Moreno might be expected to be Denver's entire offense.

Green enters a crowded backfield in New York, but considering both Thomas Jones and Leon Washington are unhappy about their contract situations and might holdout, the former Iowa product could become the Jets' primary back.
Everyone was shocked when Al Davis took Heyward-Bey with the eighth overall pick in April's draft, but the kid has a tremendous amount of talent and if quarterback JaMarcus Russell takes the next step this year, the former Maryland product could blossom. Plus, Heyward-Bey will be looking to prove the people wrong who said Oakland should have taken Michael Crabtree with the No. 8 pick.
