Real's Valdano vows to keep Higuain

General director Jorge Valdano has revealed that preliminary negotiations about a new contract for the 22-year-old, who scored a hat trick in Sunday's 4-1 win at Real Valladolid, have already started.

Higuain has already found the net 19 times this term, helping Real to move to the top of the La Liga standings.

"He is a player with a perfect record," said Valdano. "We are talking with him but there is no rush. We want to renew his deal and for him to finish his career at Real Madrid."
